Tips and Tricks

Scrunchies can also be sewn yourself. Simply batik a white cotton fabric with Marabu Easy Color and sew it together to form a tube. Now pull an elastic band through the tube, gather the fabric tube and twist it into each other and tie the elastic band with a double knot. Finally, sew the ends of the fabric tube together.

How it is done:

The first step is to crumple or fold the scrunchies together and tie them tightly with cotton string.
Then pour boiling water into a pot or large bowl, add Easy Color and a little salt and then place the tied scrunchies in the dye bath. The quantity ratio should be observed: For an intensive dyeing use about 3-5 litres of water for 150g of fabric. Add 1 tablespoon of salt per 1 litre of water. The fabric should remain in the dye bath for at least 20 minutes and be moved constantly.
After 20 minutes, remove the scrunchies from the dye bath, loosen the strings with scissors and rinse the scrunchies with cold water. They can then be hung up to dry.
