Tips and Tricks

  • Marabu DO IT Colorspray is not suitable for seats as the color can become sticky due to body heat. The stools are therefore used as fun decorative elements.

How it is done:

  • The first step is to disassemble the stool into its component parts. This will make it easier to paint the various components. The legs and seat of the stool are carefully unscrewed using a screwdriver.
  • Lightly sand the surfaces of the stool parts with sandpaper. This will help the paint adhere better. Dust is then removed from the sanded parts.
  • Cover the work area well and protect the environment from paint mist. It is best to spray outside or provide adequate ventilation.
  • Carefully remove the actuators from the DO IT cans and remove the red safety valve. Replace the actuators and caps and shake the cans for 2-3 minutes. Spray the cans onto cardboard/newsprint first to make sure there are no solids in the actuator.
  • The parts of the stool are now painted in the different colors as desired.
  • To create stripes on the legs of the stool, wrap masking tape around the legs at even intervals. Then apply another color. When dry, carefully remove the tape to reveal the pattern.
  • When dry, carefully remove the tape to reveal the pattern.
  • When all parts are completely dry, apply a coat of Marabu Silk Matt Varnish to prevent the paint from scratching during daily use.
  • Then screw the parts of the stool back together.
