Tips and Tricks

  • Always wash textiles dyed with Easy Color separately by hand at max. 30° C with a mild detergent. Frequent washing will reduce the intensity of the color.
  • Marabu Fixative improves wash fastness but does not guarantee absolute wash fastness.

How it is done:

  • Wash the lightweight summer blanket without fabric softener before batiking to remove the finish. Allow the blanket to dry and iron.
  • The cotton plaid is then tied with cotton cord. For the pattern in the example, the individual areas of the blanket were crumpled into large balls one after the other and then secured with string.
  • Now moisten the blanket with lukewarm water and gently squeeze it out.
  • Pour boiling water into the large bowl and add Easy Color and a little salt. Keep the proportions in mind: For intensive dyeing, use about 3-5 liters of water for 150 grams of fabric. You should also add 1 tablespoon of salt per 1 liter of water. The tied plaid is then placed in the dye bath. The fabric should remain in the bath for at least 20 minutes, moving constantly.
  • After 20 minutes, remove the blanket from the dye bath and rinse under running water until the water runs clear. Then remove the yarn and allow the blanket to dry.
