Marabu on track to becoming climate-neutral

PROJECT GREEN will see the implementation of multiple sustainability measures designed to make Marabu climate-neutral by mid-2021.

Ink manufacturer Marabu will become climate-neutral in July 2021. The company sees this move as a way of safeguarding an intact, ecologically sound planet for future generations, and of making a positive contribution to the Green Deal.

As a family-owned company long active in the chemical industry through our business units for screen printing, pad printing, digital printing and creative inks, we are highly aware of our special responsibilities in terms of the environment, health and safety. We believe climate change is humanity’s most urgent challenge, and we are committed to playing our part in delivering greater sustainability and climate protection.

In cooperation with ClimatePartner, we identified all CO2 emissions generated by our facilities in Tamm and Bietigheim, Germany, resulting in a carbon footprint analysis. The insights gained were used to update and expand our sustainability strategy. This led to the definition of multiple initiatives, implemented under the banner of PROJECT GREEN, with the goal of delivering climate neutrality.

Within the scope of our climate strategy, we avoid and reduce emissions wherever possible through, e.g., eco-friendly electricity, energy-saving measures, carbon-friendly transportation concepts, and the use of climate-compatible production materials. Unavoidable emissions are offset in collaboration with Climate Partner through certified international climate protection programmes.

We are therefore pleased to announce that our Tamm and Bietigheim sites will be climate-neutral from July 2021, and all our products available in carbon-neutral form from the same date. We continue to introduce measures designed to improve our climate footprint, and review and update them annually in order to ensure the success of our climate strategy is clear and measurable.

We are convinced that the future belongs to the Green Economy. At its heart are sustainable production and consumption, with the aim of conserving the natural resources that underpin all economic activity. Our strategy includes transparent communications. To this end, we will soon be presenting our PROJECT GREEN in greater detail to explain our climate-neutral journey.
