How it is done:

  • The shirts must be light-coloured and free from finishes and fabric softener. You should therefore wash them without softener before spraying them. Cover work surface and clothing well before spraying and use disposable gloves if required.
  • Be sure to thoroughly moisten shirts so that the paint will spread. Fold the fabric using the desired technique and firmly hold in place using rubber bands or string.
Those areas that are tied will remain white, i.e. the less the fabric is tied, the more paint will be on the finished piece. For clearly defined patterns, apply an iron as you are folding the fabric.
  • Shake the Fashion Spray before use and spray 2 – 3 times on a neutral surface (e.g. paper). Spray Marabu Fashion Spray on the shirts. Use a generous amount of paint when spraying. This will enable it to penetrate into the folds. After spraying, make sure you leave plenty of time for the paint to set (at least 30 mins or overnight).
  • Remove rubber bands or string with a pair of scissors and very carefully unfold the fabric so that the colours don’t mix. Leave to dry.
  • The Marabu Fashion-Liner creates great shimmer effects and is ideal for embellishments. Leave to dry. Then fix: in a preheated oven (8 min./150 °C) or iron through a cloth at cotton setting (3 min./30 x 30 cm). Now the shirts are washable at 40°C. Always wash and iron painted textiles from reverse.
